I would take a taxi anyway. They charge by the load, not by person, so it should not be overly expensive. And hey, c’mon, the exchange rate is wildly in your favor now.

Another alternative is to call Super Shuttle and see if they would book you a ride. They are really there for the purpose of transport to the airport, but they might do it…

Also, ask the concierge at your hotel, if you are staying at one. If not, ask one at any hotel. You could expect to pay a fee, but it could be worth it. Now I just wonder if Beckham will be uninjured and playing by June, or if he will be warming the bench… :)

Either way, enjoy your visit with us.

    Using public transport-

Santa Monica Blvd and 2nd Street in Santa Monica you can start by taking the Santa Monica 10 bus. Then transfer to the MTA 52 bus at 7th and Figueroa. The MTA 52(Artesia Transit Center Line) will take you to the Home Depot Center dropping you off on the Northwest corner of Victoria Street and Avalon Blvd

The MTA trip planner calculates the fare at $2.25 and the distance at 29.36 miles at a journey time of 2 hours and 7 minutes.

Not really, public transit can be complex in LA since there are several providers. But if you are careful to check all options I think you will find the overall system quite useful and fairly quick. For example, between Santa Monica and Downtown LA take the Santa Monica Blue Bus route #10 express which only takes about 40 minutes each way. Again, check into the various providers rather than just the primary MTA system. The smaller systems like the one Santa Monica operates will be faster and cheaper in many cases. Good Luck!

Take the metro rapid line along Santa Monica Boulevard to the subway line. Take the Subway as far south as you can. You’ll have to switch trains. Then take a taxi from the Subway station. http://www.metro.net/default.asp

The Blue bus is cheaper. Its air conditioned. and smells clean, normally… unless a bum sitting next to you pees his pants.

Everytime Ive been on the bus, it has been a far more pleasant experience than a cab ride.
